Family day care as a professional service focuses on providing an excellent experience for children. More people now are appreciating that to give children an excellent experience, carers need to have a good relationship with parents that involves lots of two-way communication.

Carer-parent communication cannot be thought of as an 'add-on'. It cannot be looked at separately from the other parts of the operation of a family day care home or the operation of a whole scheme.
