Description
For the first time in Australia, a government is levying its residents to fund services for survivors of domestic violence.
The people of the ACT will pay $30 dollars each to fund a $21 million reform package called the 'Safer Families' program.
It will include a co-ordinator general for family safety, enhanced child protection services and interpreting services in courts. There will also be support for frontline staff, emergency services and legal assistance.
