This paper seeks to provide some initial guidance as to what countering violent extremism (CVE) is and what it means for the media development sector, its donors and other organizations that work with media developers.

Media consultant, former journalist and academic, Michelle Betz, argues that media developers around the world have an important role working with institutions, organisations and individuals to ensure reliable and professional information is available to communities to encourage responsible debate that is key to good governance and a defence against radicalisation and violent extremism.
