This research forms part of Plan International Australia’s Free to Be project, which encourages young women to map those spaces where they feel safe, happy and included – and conversely – where they feel unsafe, anxious or intimidated.

This report showed more than half of young women (56%) thought female politicians were treated unfairly by their male colleagues. One in three young men surveyed also agreed this was the case.

This survey of Australian girls (aged 10 to 17 years old) offers a rare insight into how they experiences their world.
