AEMO has released its 2017/18 summer readiness report, which outlines all actions taken to best prepare the National Electricity Market to meet Australian energy consumer requirements.

AEMO has prepared this document to provide information about possible fast frequency response services that may be valuable in future, as at the date of distribution. This document or the information in it may be subsequently updated or amended.

This 2017 Electricity Forecasting Insights provides independent electricity consumption, maximum demand, and minimum demand forecasts for each National Electricity Market (NEM) region over a 20-year forecast period (2017–18 to 2036–37).

In its inaugural Energy Supply Outlook (ESO), the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) highlights a low risk of electricity shortfalls for an average summer in 2017/18, however the power system remains susceptible to extreme conditions.

This report illustrates the technical challenges of the changing generation mix and the need for these to be managed with the support of efficient and effective regulatory and market mechanisms that work together for the least cost and long-term interest of consumers.
