Based on the community input, this report highlights five areas of action for different stakeholders to consider concrete measures to better align reporting pathways and support services with community needs.

This report, commissioned by the Islamic Council of Victoria, argues that the failure of social media platforms to improve their demonstrably ineffectual systems for the review of hateful material, coupled with the grave harms of online Islamophobia, necessitates government intervention.

Relying on intensive community consultation, as well as independent research, this report provides a series of recommendations for Twitter and policy-makers, aimed at ensuring that users are adequately protected against anti-Muslim content on social media.

The findings outlined in this report contradict an opinion often stated in public debates that Muslims tend to ‘self-segregate’ and do not integrate with the wider society.
