This report explores the experiences of LGBTQ people in CALD communities in Greater Western Sydney following the same-sex marriage vote in 2017.

This report offers a multi-faceted analysis of verified incidents reported to the Islamophobia Register Australia by victims, proxies and witnesses in the two-year period of 2016-2017. The authors call on policy makers and researchers to use the findings for their respective areas.

This research arose out of a meeting of Western Sydney University’s (Western) ALLY network, where anecdotal concerns were voiced about the environmental conditions encountered by sexuality and gender diverse (SGD) students and staff.
