This study examines the role that this suite of power generation technologies, renewables, gas and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), could play in achieving Queensland’s target of zero emissions by 2050.

The pathway to gradual decarbonisation of the NEM raises a number of questions and concerns. This study has modelled scenarios that deliver an operable grid, able to keep the lights on, rather than simply stacking capacity to meet demand.

This report provides a roadmap to assure Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) as an option for achieving emissions reductions in a timely manner in Australia. It is intended for policy-makers associated with energy, emissions-intensive industry and trade sectors in state and federal government departments across Australia.
