The project examines the way in which law and governance arrangements shape climate change adaptation in Victoria. This project focuses particularly on the legal, regulatory and institutional dimensions of managing the risks posed by extreme events such as floods and heatwaves (climate risks).

This report comprises an initial identification of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks in respect of selected climate risks and extreme events. It examines general legal, institutional and governance implications in terms of fostering effective adaptation to climate change impacts and for the management of natural disaster risk within Victoria.

The Decriminalisation of Domestic Violence, by Heather Douglas and Lee Godden, is based on a survey of all domestic violence protection order files in the Brisbane Magistrates Court for 2001. In the 694 files examined, only three perpetrators were charged with criminal offences.
