Towards a financially inclusive higher education system
This report examined the prevalence and impact of financial hardship on Australian university students. It evaluated the effectiveness of existing financial support services and identified barriers that prevent students from accessing essential assistance. It recommends that government funded payment schemes be enhanced, and that universities should expand and enhance their emergency and non-monetary support services.

This progress report of the Better and Fairer Schools Agreements (2025–2034) outlines achievements in the first 12 months. At the centre of the national plan are clear targets for lifting student outcomes and strengthening the education workforce across three key areas. This report presents reform progress against the targets for all state and territory jurisdictions.

Evidence-based pedagogies to support online engagement of low SES, and regional, rural, and remote students
Online learning has increased significantly. Using Tasmanian data, this report outlines how a lack of pedagogical support for students studying online disproportionately impacts on students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including lower course completion rates and a reduced sense of place and belonging. It provides recommendations aimed at teachers, university leaderships and policymakers.

Time for a rethink: assessment policy to enable equity
This study examines how assessment policies and practices around time are creating barriers for university students from equity groups. Four key recommendations and examples of high‑equity practices are provided to help universities shift away from individualised notions of “time management,” streamline adjustment processes and adopt more inclusive assessment designs that address systemic time inequities.

Evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of the Napthine Measures
This report provides a formal evaluation of measures supporting the National Regional, Rural and Remote Tertiary Education Strategy. It assesses regional university funding, the Regional University Study Hubs Program, the Regional Partnerships Project Pool Program, and the Regional Education Commissioner role. The evaluation identifies 12 key recommendations to strengthen regional tertiary education outcomes.
