Algorithmic decision-making is becoming more common every day. Increasingly, important decisions that affect people’s lives are governed by datasets that are too big for an individual to process.

As an outcome of this research and a recent roundtable, NPS MedicineWise and CHF will further explore what is practical in this space and find effective ways to work with consumers and all organisations involved to define best practice approaches and guiding principles for collection, use and sharing of health data.

This report highlights both the potential benefits of being able to use data at a truly pan-London scale, but also the many barriers that stand in the way of realising that vision, and what it would take to overcome them.

This article considers how copyright law applied in the analogue era to regulate the production and dissemination of geographic information, the effects of new technologies and digitisation on how law applies to geospatial data and associated products and systems, and whether either a database right or some other form of protection is required.

This report examines the potential for biased and discriminatory outcomes in the emerging field of “precision medicine.”
