This white paper is the Consumers Health Forum of Australia’s philosophy and aspirations for the future role of consumers shaping health. Over twenty consumers, researchers, clinicians and leaders at the forefront of health policy in Australia have contributed to the paper.

This fifth national report on the national Key Performance Indicators (nKPIs) data collection is based on data from 231 primary health care organisations that receive funding from the Department of Health to provide services primarily to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Institutional racism is a major contributor to the health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians. This study describes the nature and management of institutional racism and considers recent changes in an Australian hospital and health service (HHS) to illustrate the potential for organisational transformation.

With the support of the Queensland Mental Health Commission, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership in Mental Health (NATSILMH) and Centre for Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention (CBPATSISP) hosted a stakeholder workshop on the 14 November 2018.
