Aiming to identify a pathway through the education milieu to social capital acquisition for transition towards sustainability in the suburbs, this paper comprises an analysis of sustainability education policies and approaches.

The aim of this strategy is to equip all Australians with the knowledge and skills required to live sustainably. The plan has been prepared in conjunction with the National Council on Education for Sustainability by the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.

This report sets out a proposal for an Australian Certificate of Education that would be available to all senior secondary school students, regardless of where they live in Australia.
