Queensland’s Deadly Ears Program aims to reduce the impact of ear disease and hearing loss on Indigenous children by providing a range of frontline services in remote areas. This report summarises the services provided by the program between 2007 and 2019.

This report presents updated information on ear and hearing health outreach services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people aged under 21 in the Northern Territory, between July 2012 and December 2017. These services were funded by the Australian government and delivered by the Northern Territory government.

This report argues that hearing health must be treated as a national health priority, and provides recommendations to help achieve this.

The Hearing Care Industry Association (HCIA) commissioned Deloitte Access Economics to prepare this report, with the intention of raising awareness of the economic cost of hearing impairment in Australia and to inform policy making.
