This report on the use and utility of data in Victorian courts and tribunals adds a critical dimension to the understanding of the data environment, and through it, the opportunities and challenges in its effective application.

The report uses a data justice framework to suggest how policy-makers might mitigate the harms experienced by low-socioeconomic status communities.

The synthetic income measure developed in this project provides a robust measure of income levels and dynamics for a very large sample of Australian adults, and if analysed carefully, can help support our understanding of access to economic resources in Australia and how it varies through time.
