Basin environmental watering outlook for 2018–19


This year’s outlook describes seasonal and ecosystem conditions and provides an early indication of the likely watering priorities from 2018-19. The Murray–Darling Basin Authority is anticipating conditions in 2018-19 to range from very dry to wet in different catchments but with a common drying trend.

The former Federal Water Minister, Barnaby Joyce, approved the $17 million purchase of water in the Warrego valley, after criticising the Labor government for the same thing. This was a deal that required amendments to the Basin Plan to later adjust Basin Plan limits between valleys, outside the parliamentary process.
