This research takes a look back on the settlement experiences of young Victorians who arrived in Australia in the preceding five to ten years. Using the National Youth Settlement Framework as a guide, this paper explores a range of indicators to examine the settlement outcomes of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Victoria.

Each year, approximately 200,000 people from across the seas choose to make Australia their permanent home. This inquiry had a particular consideration of the social engagement of youth migrants, and what can be done to address issues arising from anti-social behaviour such as gang activity.
