This audit examines how well the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is acquitting its responsibilities under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 and in Protecting Victoria’s Environment—Biodiversity 2037 to better protect threatened species.

The 2021–2031 Threatened Species Strategy is the next step in the Australian government’s approach to protecting and recovering Australia’s threatened species and threatened ecological communities.

The development of the new Threatened Species Strategy and Action Plan will be a consultative process, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and the community. This discussion paper focuses on the first stage, seeking public input on priority issues to be considered in the development of the new Threatened Species Strategy.
