This white paper reveals the tremendous scale of burden associated with neurological, mental health and substance use disorders in Australia, the vast negative impact they have on patients, families and communities, and the enormous health and productivity costs.

These guidelines cover a diverse set of substantive issues ranging from development to criminal justice to public health. The guidelines were developed by a coalition of UN Member States, WHO, UNAIDS, UNDP and leading human rights and drug policy experts.

The 2018 Global Overview outlines key trends across the at least 35 countries that retain the death penalty for drug offences in law, and analyses data on death sentences and executions from the last decade

For this sixth report, wastewater samples were collected during weeks of June and August 2018. Wastewater analysis was conducted at 58 sites (22 capital city and 36 regional) across all Australian states and territories, covering 13 substances, providing a detailed picture of national drug consumption.

Drug use at music festivals has become a public safety concern in NSW, one that has led to a number of deaths in recent years.
