Alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment services across Australia provide a broad range of treatment services and support to people using drugs, and to their families and friends. This report presents information for 2016–17 about publicly funded AOD treatment service agencies, the people they treat, and the treatment provided.

This study reports the findings of a systematic review of the published literature evaluating the impact of substance use programs on Australian Indigenous youth.

This report recommends that the Department of Social Services should establish and publish the evaluation strategy of the drug testing trial prior to the trial's commencement, and that the outcomes of the trial be publicly released.

In 2016–17, 836 publicly-funded alcohol and other drug treatment services provided just over 200,000 treatment episodes to an estimated 127,000 clients.

Dependence on opioid drugs (which include codeine, heroin and oxycodone) is associated with a range of health and social problems that affect individual drug users, their family and friends, and the wider public.
