This paper highlights that the national security risks faced now are in Australia's region. It proposes a clear focus on the defence of Australia and its northern approaches. The paper also addresses the critical nature of Australia's relationship with the USA. It provides six recommendations.

This action plan addresses the evolving needs of northern Australians and reaffirms the government’s commitment to the region. The plan identifies six priority areas and focuses on activating the northern economy, fostering sustainable growth, and improving the livelihoods of communities in the north.
Evaluation
Evaluation of the Indigenous Ranger Biosecurity Program
This evaluation of the Indigenous Ranger Biosecurity Program (IRBP) assessed its appropriateness, efficiency, and effectiveness. It concludes that while the IRBP should continue in its current format, targeted improvements could enhance its effectiveness in achieving biosecurity outcomes while supporting Indigenous employment and cultural connection to Country.
