This Briefing Note is the second instalment of a series of three. The series began in Briefing Note 1 with an exploration of some fundamental questions in criminal justice policy and will culminate in a set of policy approaches. This paper surveys successful trial, sentencing, and rehab programmes over the last 20 years.

The areas of focus in this strategy reflect what many people said were important for a better later life – having an adequate income and a place to live, feeling socially connected, being able to get around in their community and having access to affordable health care.

In this report, the authors summarise research they have undertaken to understand how experts understand and frame criminal justice, how the public also does so, and where the opportunities for building new, more effective narratives may lie.

This report tracks sexual violence cases through the criminal justice system, and is a valuable addition to the evidence-base to help track improvements in the justice response to victims of sexual violence. The report contributes to understanding victim's experiences and the criminal justice outcomes of sexual violence complaints to the police.

This report is one of the first Social Return on Investment (SROI) analyses to investigate the impact of the IYP Programme on Māori. It describes the SROI analysis of the Incredible Years Parenting (IYP) Programme delivered by Te Whānau o Waipareira in New Zealand.
