This paper aims to identify challenges in current health service approaches to providing optimal care for people who seek treatment for obesity in Australia.

This article argues that effective obesity prevention requires a combination of interventions that empower Australian youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and create environments that support healthy decision-making.

This article looks how the Coalition for Research to Improve Aboriginal Health (CRIAH), led by a partnership between the Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC), Sax Institute and six Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) in NSW, has successfully co-produced evidence to guide policy and program planning.

The terms ‘co-creation’, ‘co-design’ and ‘co-production’ have been used interchangeably to describe the development of initiatives involving multiple stakeholders. While commonalities exist across these concepts, they have essential distinctions for public health, particularly related to the role of stakeholders and the extent and timing of their engagement. This paper summarises these similarities and differences.

In this article, the authors argue that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health is an important public policy priority that requires new and different approaches to service delivery and research.
