This week the Chinese Communist party announced its intention to remove from the constitution the provision that limits the president to two five year terms.
That would allow Xi Jing Ping to rule for life in theory, making him the most powerful ruler in China since Mao died in 1976.
Meanwhile, China's influence is increasing with Chinese money spreading into all corners of the globe, and their military influence spreading into the Indian Ocean.
