Description
This paper draws upon experiences in the emerging field of impact investing.
The term impact investing was first coined by investors at a meeting convened by the Rockefeller Foundation in 2007 and refers to “profit seeking investing to generate social and environmental good”. Until recently, impact investing was seen as a niche activity for those willing to prioritize social or environment impact over financial return. However, evidence is building to suggest we may be approaching a tipping point that will see impact investing move from the periphery of global investment activity to being fully integrated into the mainstream.
