The Australian National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security 2012–2018 (the National Action Plan) was launched in 2012. The National Action Plan guides whole-of-government actions to implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) and the seven subsequent resolutions that together form the architecture of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
The purpose of this review was to assess the high-level effectiveness of the National Action Plan against its stated objectives and provide actionable recommendations to inform the development of the next plan. Commissioned by the Office for Women in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the review was mandated in the current NAP and intended to meet accountability requirements.
