Australia's peak body for social services has released its climate change and energy election policy priorities.

It makes nine recommendations under these themes:

• Set emissions reduction targets in line with Paris agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C
• Implement credible, stable, scalable, least cost and equitable emission reduction policies for emissions-intensive sectors
• Ensure a ‘just transition’
• Phase out fossil fuel subsidies
• Energy efficiency and generation in public and private housing
• A fair electricity price
• Improve people’s capacity to pay energy bills
