Health expenditure in Australia in 2008-09 reached $112.8 billion, an increase of $9.2 billion since 2007-08.
The area of health expenditure with the largest increase was public hospital services, which accounted for over one-quarter of the total increase in 2008-09.

The report: describes funding by the Australian Government and state governments, private health insurance and individuals; compares health expenditures in the different states and territories; compares Australia's spending with other countries.
