The tourism industry worldwide has been a favourite terrorist target and it may be hit again. This paper considers the impact of terrorism on tourism and suggests measures to strengthen the resilience of this sector. Now is the time for the Australian tourism industry to re-examine their security training, put security plans in place if they have not done so, review physical security and evacuation procedures, evaluate staff vetting and consider if extra security investments should be made.
