With the 2020 New Zealand election approaching the Green Party (NZ) have released a Poverty Action Plan. The Plan claims that the Green Party will establish a simpler, fairer approach to income support that ensures everyone has enough to live on, so they can look after their families and contribute to their communities. This will be funded by a more progressive approach to tax including a contribution from people with net wealth over $1 million, new income taxes on very high salaries, and closing tax loopholes.
