The performance of mainstream services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians is a particular focus of the annual Report on Government Services. This Indigenous Compendium contains all the Indigenous data to be found in the most recent Report, published in January 2014.

This Compendium, like the Report, was compiled by the Steering Committee for the Review of Government Service Provision, for which the Productivity Commission provides the Secretariat.

This twelfth edition of the Compendium reflects several improvements in reporting by Indigenous status in the 2014 Report, including Indigenous students’ science literacy outcomes and separations from selected hospital procedures for Indigenous people.

Several improvements in reporting on services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians were made in the 2014 Report, including:

  • Public hospitals — ‘Selected hospital procedures’ are reported by Indigenous status
  • Primary and community health — Australian Government expenditure on Indigenous primary healthcare services is reported for the first time.
