Building a good life: the role of natural supports in recovery from mental illness

10 Oct 2014
Description

Natural support networks, such as through friends, family and neighbours, are an important part of treatment for mental health issues.

Overview

Building a Good Life: the role of natural supports in recovery from mental illness provides an overview of findings from Anglicare's most recent research project.

Anglicare provides a range of community services for people experiencing mental illness and their families. Our research has found that there is a strong interconnection between poverty and mental illness.

By working with people with a lived experience of mental illness, we aim to provide the evidence base which will establish the need for reform of services and systems which have a detrimental impact on people recovering from episodes of mental illness.

In 2011 Anglicare conducted research into how the service system works to assist people with a mental illness who are at risk of becoming homeless
