Description
This Evidence Check review examines the evidence on the types of commissioning that support best value investment for primary care, with a particular focus on the primary-acute interface and chronic disease management.
The review found limited evidence for the impact of various models of commissioning for individuals, groups and populations on service use and costs, with no evidence for the superiority of any one commissioning model or organisation.
Overseas experience suggests there are a number of barriers and enablers to successful commissioning and the review examines these with respect to the Australian context.
