This position statement offers recommendations to guide the Australian Government's transition to a new human rights-based needs assessment model. It urges policymakers and stakeholders to embed human rights, co-design and trusted relationships at the centre of this reform. It makes a series of recommendations for implementation.

This position paper highlights the importance of economic justice for people with disability as a right under international and Australian law. It calls for action by the incoming Australian Government across three key areas: income support, employment and housing.

The report identifies a range of critical issues and gaps in the inclusion of people with disability in emergency and disaster management planning and response across federal, state and local levels of government. It makes 20 recommendations designed to ensure that emergency management systems are accessible, inclusive and responsive.

This report presents the views of People With Disability Australia members and has been developed in the context of proposed changes and the Independent Review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

This report and its 19 position statements reflects consultation with PWDA members across Australia and the change they want to see from the government's response to the Royal Commission.
