This paper explores the interplay between competition and data privacy. It analyses their respective objectives and examines how considerations pertaining to one policy area have been, or could be, included into the other. Furthermore, it investigates enforcement interventions and regulatory measures that could foster synergies or lead to potential challenges.

The quantity and quality of digital technologies available to farmers have advanced considerably since the 1990s. This paper argues that policy-makers need to address the removal of specific barriers to farmers’ adoption of digital technologies, while ensuring both enabling infrastructure and appropriate incentives exist upstream in markets for digital innovation.
