This paper briefly discusses the concept of death and burial practice in Australia. It defines green burials and uses a case study to showcase a NSW green burial site currently in operation. The paper argues that planning authorities and planners face real challenges with land availability for cemeteries and social practice around this burial method.

Whilst some disciplines analyse paintings and photographs and how they represent different landscapes, very little has been written on how planners have used or could use a range of creative media to represent sense of place.

This paper outlines some of the key findings of two complementary research projects both of which studied intra- migration within the Australian states of New South Wales and South Australia.
