The report provides a snapshot of the experience of women working in Australia’s media sector. It finds career dissatisfaction is at a new high, with more women considering leaving their jobs and fewer seeing viable pathways to progress.

This evidence-based report aims to familiarise the reader with a wide array of AI in journalism use cases, provide grounding on the legal and ethical issues that journalists and audiences identify regarding this technology within journalism, and reveal news audiences’ expectations regarding how this technology should or should not be used.

Journalism is facing systemic pressures that threaten Australians’ access to quality, public interest reporting. This policy framework identifies the Australian Government’s policy objectives for news and journalism. It outlines the role of government, public policy objectives, principles for policy design and implementation, and the development of policy measures.

This report examines how best to provide regional media with the resources it needs to produce quality public interest journalism, and, with that journalism, to establish links to metropolitan media, so that all Australians have a sense of what the significant issues facing regional dwellers are and how they can best be tackled by policymakers.
