Through investigating the existing data and literature around those groups disproportionately represented as victim-survivors of coercive control and those who experience specific controlling behaviours, this paper explores the intersectional complexities of coercive control experiences and the potential barriers to seeking support in Australia.

Violence against women is a national crisis in Australia. The federal government is presently developing the next national plan to end violence against women and children. This report report reveals that systems improvements are needed to appropriately respond to the issue, with many victim-survivors experiencing further harm as a result of system engagement.
