This special issue studies the politicisation of non-majoritarian institutions (NMIs), and then whether, why and how it leads to de-delegation through reducing the formal powers of NMIs or increasing controls over them. In this article, the authors examine how to analyse de-delegation, how politicisation of NMIs has developed, and how it has affected de-delegation.

This report analyses targets, policies and programs announced by Australian federal, state and territory governments, with a focus on policies introduced since the publication of a previous report in 2021 on state and territory climate action.

Each policy or decision a government makes costs money and will impact individuals and communities. This chapter provides the argument for leaping forward with the provision of data to trusted analysts so that we can build a more effective and timely evidence base to inform policy and practice in Australia.

It is intended that this publication will serve to increase the accessibility of valuable evidence and experiences to policy-makers within Australia. The University of Queensland and the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust also hope that it will encourage more partnership approaches toward developing public policy that are informed by broad groups of experts, including Churchill Fellows.

The aim of this project is to coax more evidence-based policy decisions by all tiers of government by reviewing and rating 20 high profile government decisions against the Wiltshire business case criteria.
