This submission is based on findings from the ADM+S Australian Advertising Observatory related to unhealthy food ads on Australian social media platforms, and the work of the research team on observability of online advertising.

This discussion paper outlines the context, challenges, and potential actions to improve food security outcomes in remote First Nations communities. It is intended as a starting point to shape discussion with First Nations people living in remote communities, governments, and industry operating in the remote food sector to inform a new, national strategy.

Australia is a global deforestation hotspot, driven primarily by the beef industry. This report assesses how the commitments and implementation efforts of ten of Australia’s largest beef buyers stack up against a conversion and deforestation-free target by 2025. All of the companies assessed failed, with none scoring above 50%.
