Why climate policy scenarios are important, how to use them, and what has been learned

The authors of this paper argue that greater use of models will help policy-makers understand the range of uncertainties and the sensitivity of policy outcomes, based on different model assumptions.

What are the monetary returns of investing in programs that reduce demand for illicit drugs?
The aim of this study is to estimate the return on investment for demand reduction strategies targeting illicit drug use. The authors reviewed the literature to identify benefit–cost analysis studies (producing benefit–cost ratios) conducted on programs in Australia and overseas that have, at least in part, aimed to reduce demand for illicit drugs.

The nuisance cost of tariffs: research paper
This report argues that in Australia’s low tariff-rate environment, the costs of the tariffs arise primarily from the complexity of the tariff system, rather than from distortions to the economy. These costs are in addition to the tariff itself and increase costs of businesses, and eventually, prices to consumers.
