This paper is based on research with police across Australia to understand systems and processes in place to facilitate culturally appropriate and gender responsive engagement with migrant and refugee women.

The Inquiry into NSW Police Force strip search practices, set out in this report, represents a significant body of work - comprising a total of seven investigations, as well as an analysis of NSW Police Force policies and training, and oversight of police investigations of complaints about strip searches.

This report argues that police forces at the city, county, state, and federal levels should all immediately reform their conduct through specialised trainings on the facilitation and protection of freedom of peaceful assembly, in line with their obligations under the US Constitution, international human rights standards, and good practices in the policing of assemblies.
