This report was prepared as part of the New Zealand Law Foundation-funded project: Artificial Intelligence and Law in New Zealand. The overall focus of the report is on the regulatory issues surrounding uses of AI in New Zealand.

Industry 4.0 is rapidly changing Australia’s manufacturing industry. This research, undertaken by PwC, on behalf of Swinburne University, Siemens and the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU), identifies the ways in which businesses and workforces must adapt to these changes.

ArtificiaI intelligence (AI) is emerging as a pivotal technology that will transform how economies grow, businesses trade, and people work. Attuned to the significance of AI, governments are rolling out an array of AI frameworks, including agendas and policies aimed at building domestic AI capabilities.

This report explores the policy choices that AI and robotisation present for the future of labour and puts forward recommendations on addressing these choices. The new digital technologies will have different impacts on jobs in the short and longer term. To grasp the full story, we need to consider the time dimension of the issue.
