A case study on improving standardization in the conception phase by developing tools and protocols
This paper presents an action research approach to develop and implement a framework to help in creating an improved visual mapping of the information flows between the departments of an architectural firm. The aim is to use the principles of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) from Lean Production and Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes to improve...

Application of BIM design manuals: a case study
A problem often encountered by contractors is that the information provided is not always equal to the information needed in the Building Information Model (BIM). This applied research showed that design manuals should reflect new project delivery methods to support lean principles for all parties involved in the project.

Synergistic effect of integrated project delivery, Lean construction, and Building Information Modeling on project performance measures: a quantitative and qualitative analysis
The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of and the synergy between three trending concepts in the construction industry, namely, integrated project delivery (IPD), lean principles, and building information modeling (BIM) in terms of cost and schedule performance measures.

Research and application of BIM-based specification-compliant Field Quality Management for Lean Construction
Quality and management are facing stern challenges in the new political, economic, social and technological environment. The emergence and popularization of BIM (Building Information Modeling) not only changed the production tools of practitioners, but also provided a new way for engineering quality management.
