This paper argues that innovative policy, new technology, faster adaptation and ways to build public support are all needed to manage climate-change risks, which will be critically important to Canada for decades to come.

To develop effective responses to climate change and energy challenges, decision-makers in government and industry draw on a range of information. In Australia, the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting legislation underpins this evidence base by requiring Australia’s largest companies to anually measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions and energy production and use.

Urgent action is required to strengthen an international effort to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This strategy guides the next steps in reducing the largest sources of emissions in the City of Melbourne, in line with science-based targets and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
