Dr Colin Tukuitonga speaks about how climate change is affecting the health of people living in Pacifc Island countries and the relevance of Australia’s climate change policy responses to these neighbouring countries.

This assessment draws on extensive research and 8 months of New Zealand and South Pacific-based discussions on climate change and security with officials from countries across the Pacific, as well as with academics and civil society from across New Zealand and the Pacific region.

The management, governance and control of the world’s oceans have become major policy and research agendas. Nowhere is this more the case than in the Pacific Ocean, the world’s largest ocean.

The South Pacific is becoming a more strategically crowded and contested space. But, despite the strong aid and defence relations Australia maintains with the island states, there’s been little attention given to date to the role of Australia’s private sector in the Pacific islands region.

This audit found 31 cases of misconduct committed by aid workers connected to Australian charities. The sector's peak body, the Council for International Development, has promised major changes to protect some of the world's most vulnerable people.
