Report
Description
TasCOSS researchers spoke with 148 Tasmanians across the State about what it’s like to live on a low income. They found that many Tasmanians are indeed ‘just scraping by’ and are doing so often at the expense of their health and well-being and by going without.
The voices of low income Tasmanians are reproduced in this report talking in their own words about the daily struggle to make ends meet on inadequate incomes and with limited access to health care and other services, to education, employment and training opportunities, to affordable housing, and to social and recreational activities.
They also tell us about their resourcefulness and resilience and the factors that they think contribute to a good quality of life.
