Data insights in civil justice: NSW Land and Environment Court

4 Jul 2018
Description

Overview

The Department of Justice NSW uses information about the cases and clients of the civil divisions of the Local, District, Land and Environment, and Supreme Courts, and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), to inform decision-making and policy reform. The Law and Justice Foundation of NSW (the Foundation) was engaged by the Department to investigate the quality and utility of each NSW court and tribunal’s administrative data and thus the extent to which it can inform this process. This report focuses on Land and Environment Court data. The focus of each report is the quality and utility of the court or tribunal’s administrative data and the value of this in understanding the work of each court. The reports are not intended to provide a comprehensive description of the work of each court or tribunal. For this we recommend the relevant annual report.
