Kingsford Legal Centre and Human Rights Law Centre coordinated this civil society report, which was submitted to the Human Rights Committee on 18 September 2017.
The report raises concerns about Australia’s human rights record on issues including democratic rights and freedoms, equality and non-discrimination, rights of persons with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander incarceration, rights of LGBTIQ persons, violence against women, and refugees. The report makes numerous recommendations about how the government can better meet Australia's international treaty obligations and ensure civil and political rights.
