The Securing the Future update is an annual report which tracks Australia’s major performing arts' (MPA) companies’ progress in the areas of artistic vibrancy, access and financial viability.

Securing the Future 2002 –2009 demonstrates that the implementation of the government-agreed recommendations of the Major Performing Arts Inquiry (MPAI) continued to result in a robust Major Performing Arts (MPA) sector for Australia. Over a decade the MPA companies have built financial reserves, increased audience numbers, commissioned and performed new works, toured nationally and internationally, provided imaginative and far-reaching education programs and have taken a leadership role in artist training and collaboration with the small to medium performing arts sector.
